Teaching objectives:

 

         practical: to repeat the lexical material covered the topics “Appearance”,

       “City. Village”, “Working day”; the Present Indefinite Tense  

        (affirmative, negative and interrogative forms);

 

         educational: to tell children more new and interesting information;

 

         developing: to develop pupils’ logical thinking and quick objection 

                                reaction; to develop listening, reading, writing and speaking

                               skills; to educate respect to other’s opinions; to be interested in

English to develop ability to work in pairs and groups.

 

Equipment: pictures, a puzzle, riddles, CD “We learn English”, laptop, cards with

task for individual, pair and group work, the portrait of the Queen of

Great Britain, “smiles” and “sads”, tests, markers, clean pieces of

paper,

Lesson procedure.

I.                 Warming up.

1.     Guess the anagrams

2.     Match the pictures with the descriptions.

3.     Checking the home task.

Some children set the riddles; the others try to guess them. The answers are on the pictures.

II.               Main part.

1.     - Dear children! Today I’ve got a letter from the Queen of Great Britain. Do you want to know what did she write? Her Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Elizabeth II invites us to come and see her! Can you imagine? Do you want to go there? Well, it’s not so easy. We’ll be able do it only if we know all the material well.

So, let’s start!

2.     Puzzle.

Let’s answer the questions and see what is there behind.

q       In the morning I get up and make my … (bed).

q       When do we usually have our dinner? (in the afternoon).

q       What do we usually do at 10 or 11 o’clock in the evening? (go to bed).

q       What do we do after classes? (come back home).

There is the Buckingham Palace on the picture.

-         What can you see on this picture?

-         Who lives here?

3.     Listening comprehension.

-         Look at the blackboard. What do you think whose portrait is this? Yes, this is the Queen of Great Britain. What does she look like? (children are describing). Well, now let’s compare. TASKS

The questions

-         What colour are the Queen’s eyes?

4. Individual work of some pupils with cards. They have to describe somebody of their classmates. While they are working we describe pictures on the blackboard.

After that children try to guess their classmates.

5.Reading the poem “What are you doing?”

What are you doing, Fred?

I’m making my bed.

What are you doing, Terry?

I’m eating a berry.

What are you doing, Mark?

I’m drawing a shark.

What are you doing, Pete?

I’m washing my feet.

What are you doing, Ben?

I’m feeding a hen.

What are you doing, Bess?

I ‘m playing chess.

At first I read it myself, then together, and then children read in pairs.

Children write down the new words: a shark, to feed. What are you doing?

Some children make up a few sentences with new words.

6.     The game “Associations”

Some pairs of pupils get the cards with word combinations on them and make up the dialogue, the others work with the scheme block.

 

We are listening to the pupils that had to prepare dialogues.

7.     Brain storm.

-         Be attentive and correct the mistakes.

I have a friend. Her name is Sam. Sam usually get up at 8 o’clock in the morning, because he go to school in the afternoon. Then he washes, dress and has his breakfast.

Does you get up at 8 o’clock too?

Do your friend like to do morning exercises?

My friend don’t like to make his bed.

The questions:

Ø     What tense is used in these sentences?

Ø     When do we use this tense?

Ø     Do the verbs in the third form of singular have some ending? What? And what about the verb can? Why?

Ø     How do we form the interrogative form of Present Indefinite?

Ø     How do we form the negative form of Present indefinite?

8.     Some pupils work with cards. They need to perform the sentence into the interrogative and negative form. The others put in order the statements to get a story about working day.

9.     Monologue speaking.

Someone of children is telling about his working day.

10.           Work in-groups.

-         At least we are on the London Bridge. We are so close to the Buckingham Palace! But we have some tasks more. Now, dear, we’ll work in groups. Each team will get the card with tasks. Read the task attentive and don’t forget to communicate.

Group #2 is working at the computer with CD “We learn English” making up the words from given one.

Group #3 is underlining the unnecessary words.

Group # 4 is finishing the sentences.

11.           Project work “ My native village”.

Some pupils are working together at this project. They can draw the scheme of Vyry and tell about it. They can tell about their streets they are live in.

3.     The homework is to make the crossword on one of the topics “Appearance”, “City. Village”, “Working Day”.
